Grit Höppner is a research associate at the chair of Gender Studies and a PhD candidate in sociology at the University of Vienna. Her research focuses on feminist theory, on the sociology of the body and aging, and on contemporary neurocultural discourses in popular media. She is the author of the book Alt und schön. Geschlecht und Körperbilder im Kontext neoliberaler Gesellschaften (VS Verlag für Sozialwissenschaften, 2011). Together with Sigrid Schmitz, she has examined the neuropharmacological paradigm of enhancement and its gendered implications in popular media: “Erfolgreich optimiert? Das neuropharmakologische Optimierungsparadigma und dessen geschlechtliche Implikationen” (Gender: Journal for Gender, Culture and Society, 2013).
